Adrian Royston was cultivated as a hip-hop artist in South Central Los Angeles, where his first music business existed on paper before it existed anywhere else.

As a boy he wrote raps, started Paper Boy Records with friends, and carried homemade contracts in his backpack. In high school, a composition notebook called The Treasury filled with lyrics while he learned to record at home—first through an earbud microphone, then a Rock Band USB mic. The blog-era wave of mixtapes and independent artists showed him that music made close to home could reach much farther.

He went on to finance, record, promote, and press a physical album while working full time. Over the following years he released projects under different names and built a substantial body of songs. He also performed opening sets for Rockie Fresh, Dave East, and Mick Jenkins at The Observatory in Santa Ana.

Now recording and releasing under his own name, Royston has cleared earlier projects from his active streaming profile to give one record the front line: “who u think u iz?” with Peezaye. Green Tea handles distribution. The Archive, on a separate SoundCloud artist page, makes the longer history visible without confusing it with the current commercial release.

He is developing demos into his first fully realized project under his own name. The studio process is intended to evolve those recordings, not simply reproduce them. It is a return to the independent, possibility-rich era that first made him want to rap, seen through the experience and discipline of the man he has become. RAP 4 Wealth is the imprint and release model growing around that work.
